CHICAGO, September 5, 2018 – Littelfuse, Inc., the global leader in circuit protection, today introduced the new Single Mount ZCASE (SMZ) Series Stud Mount Fuse Holder for the commercial vehicle industry. The SMZ is ideal for mounting directly to a stud style battery terminal or alternator stud.
The SMZ series accepts the Littelfuse proprietary ZCASE fuse that is available in 40-600A ratings with similar characteristics to the MEGA® fuse. The SMZ stud mount fuse holder is ideal for stacking to create a 2-pole version and is secured to a stud using a standard M8 or M10 nut. The insulated bolt on the busbar eliminates the traditional need for nylon nuts used on legacy CF8 fuses. The ZCASE fuses can be assembled using a standard M8 flange nut included with each part number. Geoff Schwartz, Business Development Manager, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, at Littelfuse, said “The SMZ holder allows users to place circuit protection as close to the battery as possible while eliminating the need for wiring to a fuse holder and finding a mounting location for that fuse holder. The high current line from the battery, battery disconnect switch or relay are amongst the highest current lines in a vehicle and frequently, they are not protected, now they easily can be.”
The SMZ has the ability to stack up several holders allowing the user to protect lines to secondary fuse boxes and a line to a starter. Geoff added “The small footprint of the SMZ allows it to be placed to protect this line on any ¼” to M10 stud without any additional wiring.” The ZCASE fuse rating up to 600A allows fusing of high inrush current loads that previously could not be protected with a single stud fuse. The SMZ fuse holder is available in four configurations, each with a red protective cover designed to reduce the risk of accidental contact on the fuse or battery terminal.

The SMZ Series Fuse Holders are available with either a 901-525 Fuse/Stud Cover or 901-524 Fuse Cover, providing protection and is designed to reduce the risk of accidental contact on the fuse or battery terminal.
